Classroom atmosphere

To learn, one needs a peaceful environment in CM and TD & TP alike.

This requires that students respect students, students respect the staff and the staff the students. Some basic principles then:

• ·         The teacher is talking: you don't. Full stop. No excuses. Talking, chattering etc shows a total lack of respect that will not be tolerated. There will be no warnings: talk and you will be excluded.  Of course, teachers like and want students to offer their ideas, contributions and questions: but through the teacher at the appropriate time.
• ·         In seminars and tutorials, perhaps when one of your colleagues is presenting or in dialogue with the teacher: respect your colleagues, please, pay them the compliment of your polite and silent attention and learn from them – how would you like people to talk over you when you are trying to make a presentation?
• ·         I will treat you with respect as an adult and professional …. provided you accord me the same.
