« Sustainability is a belief system shared by individuals, society, governments and corporations whose aim is to enable us all to optimise and distribute fairly the quality of life benefits derived from development and operation within the limits of the renewable resources of the planet.   This requires that the message be diffused by systems to provide appropriate information, education, encouragement, incentives and enforcement designed to support adoption of and compliance with the principles and practices of sustainability.  It implies a new and systematic approach based upon a genuine will to minimise needs rather than maximise wants. »
