TED3. Design

We are all Designers….

A presentation by John Hockenbury…..

Good design is about supplying 'intent'?

Bad design: there's no excuse for it?

Common sense, no?

Great Designers and their Views of Design.

Have a look at this:

http://www.ted.com/playlists/127/design_giants.html

presentations by Philippe Starck and other designers on the essence and nature of Design.   He has terrible English and worse pronunciation – BUT he is a great communicator even without a Powerpoint or Prezi presentation.  This should give you confidence!

Now take Hockenbury's thesis and apply it to Great Design as advanced by the Great Designers in the presentations above:

IS HOCKENBURY RIGHT?

….. or is design less a funtion of 'nature' (who we are in the genes we have inherited) and more to do with 'nurture' (how we develop, how we are trained and an intense focus on 'Design' as a speciality???

What do you think? [Explain and justify your views with evidence].
