DevDur

not at all plain plane tree

This is the ‘introductory page’

for my elements of the new

Sustainability unit

[For students of Librarianship and Cultural Events Management within FLSH].

[NB. I teach similar subjects on other courses – if you are on one of these courses, please do NOT follow this page – go to your own Tonyversity Course Pages!]

In 22/23  my course is of two days’ duration in S1 and some follow-up classes in S2. [four ‘blocks’ of 3 hours’ spread over two weeks in S1].

In addition, you will also receive inputs from both librarianship and cultural organisation specialists who have considerable expertise in how such organisations are responding positively to the challenge of sustainability [please see your timetable for details].

You will find details of these blocks and the associated assignments on the ‘spring-out’ menu when you hover your cursor over the ‘DevDur’ title under the FLSH tab on Tonyversity and via the links below:-

.

Block 1. Me & DD [DD = Développement Durable / Sustainability].  How does this matter affect me?  If it doesn’t affect me personally – how can I expect it to impact upon me professionally or upon others?

Block 2. DD History. Have we only just discovered our own impact upon the environment, or did we realise this much earlier….?  What has brought us to this current situation?  THE Landmark: The Brundtland Report

Block 3. AIDA & Inhibitors.  Where are we stuck and why… Awareness … Interest … Desire … Action?  Can any of us say (honestly) that we are unaware of our impacts… or is it that we aren’t interested enough in doing something about it?

Block 4. DD Players & Progress.  OK … so what are we prepared to do at personal, professional (& even political) levels to address this issue?  It is not enough to say ‘Someone should do something‘…  We are that ‘someone‘ after all…. What should we do?  Who was it who said: ‘If not me, who?  If not now, when?

Block 5. Our Actions.  How can we get engaged/involved?  Events to plan, organise, promote, manage and evaluate… Like a Repair Café event.
