TOEIC Pt3: Brief Conversations

TOEIC Pt 3 revolves around short questions following brief conversations between two or more speakers.  You have to listen and understand and then work out which statement that you are given (a,b,c or d) best describes the situation or answers a specific question about the conversation.

This requires that you:

  1. can hear 'through' any accent
  2. can quickly understand both the question AND the three possible answers
  3. can make your choice quickly without visual clues

In class we will be doing listening and understanding tests and exercises:

  1. you will be listening to me and to each other in presentations etc
  2. we will watch video  / listen to audio clips and you will answer questions of the same fashion.

Outside class you have the opportunity to:

  1. sign up for a NovaTris Buddy-buddy session with a native English speaker (with whom you trade your native French)
  2. visit and participate in FLSH English Club events and activities (like Friday Noon films)
  3. Use the CLAM and their personalised programmes and tests based upon your level in English
  4. Listen to English media: BBC / CNN etc – TV, radio, online newscasts and podcasts.
  5. Use sites like www.englishteststore.com et al which offer countless tests under this Pt3 TOEIC heading.
