IES Sustainability Def. 21

Here’s one I prepared earlier and to which I tried to incorporate aspects of your definitions….     The modern conception of sustainability is of the installation, planet-wide, across all levels and activities of society, business and government, of a sane, common, ethically-based, understanding and strongly-held commitment to urgently defining and globally establishing, encouraging, implementing and (where necessary) enforcing harmonious  and responsible and equitable ways of life and business based upon meeting needs rather than wants which are within the means of the Earth to support without degrading its ability to regulate and protect ‘life’  for the long term future benefit of mankind.  This represents a significant challenge to the capitalist rationale for ever-increasing production & profit and even to...
