Inspirational Video Clips
OK, the picture is inspirational, but only really for me and my wife, as it is a Tuscan view from our honeymoon hotel …. but there is a connection in the sense that over a few years I have found myself showing or referring to the same brilliant, short, subtitled videos in class or with colleagues. So I thought it about time I started a list of them together for easy access. Due thanks too, to the students who have sometimes recommended video clips to me….
Education:
what’s wrong with it (it kills creativity in the young) and what we should do about it… Videos by
Ken Robinson
- Do schools kill creativity? (Over 50 million views – poignant and very funny indeed!)
- Changing educational paradigms. (Brilliant cartooning with hsi voice behind it)
Sustainability:
Pam Warhurst: The Incredible Edible. How to transform a community by using food / planting fruit and veg etc….. with no money… just community goodwill. Inspiring and funny but you may need subtitles (she’s from the North of England).
Eben Bayer: Mushrooms – the new ‘Plastic‘. You have to see this to believe it! Packaging that grows itself for free without need of energy (heat / light) or much at all in the way of human intervention. We no longer have any need at all for Polystyrene! And when you’ve finished with it – throw it on your grass or garden: it is a natural fertiliser!
The edible watter ‘bottle’. Bite-sized globules of water contained in a natural material that melts in the mouth.
Please tell me if you have some favourites that merit inclusion….. Thanks
